Tilbury is a town in the English county of Essex, located on the River Thames in the traditional East of England. It is the administrative center of the Borough of Thurrock, a unitary authority, and the main port of entry into the country from the continent.

The settlement of Tilbury was first recorded in the 11th century, and its name is thought to be derived from the old English "tilla" meaning a landing place and "burgh" meaning a fortified settlement.
