Holliwell Point is a picturesque spot located on the coast of Essex, England. Situated on the Thames Estuary, it has a long history as a much-loved location for visitors, fishermen, and sailors alike.

Holliwell Point is first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, when it was known as Holewelle. It is thought that the name is derived from the Old English ‘holh', meaning a hollow, and ‘well', a spring or stream. It is believed that the area was once a marshland, and the name refers to the hollows and streams that would have been present there.

The Point itself is a small peninsula that juts out into the estuary, forming a sheltered cove. It provides a safe anchorage for boats in the area, and is known for its wonderful views. The surrounding area is mostly marshland, and the Point itself is a haven for wildlife. Many species of birds can be seen here, including ducks, geese, cormorants, and even rare species such as the red-throated diver. It is also frequented by seals, which can often be seen basking in the sun on the sandbanks.
