Mistley is a small village located in the English county of Essex, approximately five miles south of Manningtree and seven miles north of Colchester. It is located close to the River Stour, which forms part of the border between Essex and Suffolk. The village is made up of a variety of buildings, from small houses to larger manors, and its population has grown steadily over the past decade.

The name ‘Mistley' comes from the Old English words for ‘wood' and ‘meadow', and was first recorded in 1086 in the Domesday Book. The village was once part of the manor of Little Bentley, and was owned by the de Vere family from 1256 to 1335. During the 16th century, Mistley served as an important port for the county, with ships regularly arriving from around the world. The village was also a centre for the local fishing industry, with a large boatyard based here.

The village is home to a number of historic buildings, including the Grade II listed Mistley Towers. This impressive 18th century manor house was built in 1770 by the architect Richard Woods, and has been owned by various families over the years. The house has a large lake in the grounds, and is now a popular wedding venue. Another historic building in the village is The Bell Inn, a former coaching inn dating back to the 16th century. The inn is now owned by the National Trust and is regularly used for special events and functions.

The village is home to a number of churches, including St Mary's Church which was built in the 15th century. The church features a variety of interesting features, including a spire, stained glass windows, and a clock tower. The village also has a number of public houses, shops, and other amenities.

Mistley is a friendly and welcoming village, with a number of activities and events taking place throughout the year. These include the annual Mistley Mayfair, which is held in May each year and features a range of stalls and attractions. The village also hosts a number of music and theatre events, including the Mistley Players who perform a variety of plays throughout the year.

The village is well connected, with bus services running to the nearby towns of Manningtree and Colchester. It is also located close to the A120 road, which connects the village with London and beyond. Mistley is a great place to live and visit, offering a range of activities, attractions, and events.
